Our Story
Our Past
Before Unleash & Engage, we’d all worked for decades in industry and business. Over the years, we’d all seen the same problem. Too much time and attention was spent on about 15% of the workforce – those who were considered the best or the worst employees. Meanwhile practically no attention was paid to the 85% in the middle, so they became more unhappy, less productive and less engaged. We knew this was wrong on both a business and a human level and yet everyone seemed trapped in a failed system. So we resolved to build a new way of working that helped business leaders focus on the core of the business and on the forgotten majority. The idea was simple, to unleash the potential of each person to boost the performance of every business.
Our Present
We’re continuing to unleash levels of engagement, energy and enthusiasm that create lasting improvements in business performance. We may be the coaches who instigate and encourage those improvements but they’re always made by the people inside the business. They build each new improvement on trust, collaboration, clear focus and a collective pride in themselves and their work. Our work transforms companies and their workplaces regardless of where they are or what they do. So we’re now working not just in the UK, but across Europe too. Most of our clients have seen huge cultural shifts, and are breaking performance records, long after we’ve gone. Clients say very good things about us because we’ve done extremely good things for them. We still maintain that what we do is simple. Though “simple” is very different from “easy”.
Our Future
The only way to grow a business is by looking forward but the only way to understand it is by looking back. Ours is no exception. Going forward, we’ll remain committed to the reason we started Unleash & Engage: to unleash the potential of everyone we work with. The more people we can help, the better it is for them, for their employers and for the wider economy. We believe that everyone should go to work feeling trusted, valued and inspired. This will always require a change of mindset in people at every level of any organisation. But change that mindset and everything starts to improve. People are happier, more productive and more engaged with what they do. We’re looking forward to working in ways and in places we’ve never worked before but always doing the same thing: unleashing potential. That way, everyone can have a great day every day.

Greig Walker
Managing Director
Greig has spent more than three decades in engineering and consulting. Each chapter of his career reinforced his belief: great performance comes from people who feel trusted and empowered to do the right thing. After senior consulting roles with PwC he co-created Unleash & Engage to tackle a problem he’d seen time and time again – organisations focusing their attention on a small slice of the workforce whilst overlooking the 85% who keep the business moving. He set out to change that. Today he leads Unleash & Engage with a simple belief: when you shift mindsets, build belief and build new habits – performance transforms. Not just temporarily, but long after we have left the building.
Carl Banfield
Director
Carl has over 20 years’ experience leading operational excellence, performance improvement and large scale transformation across industry and consulting. His career began with senior operational leadership and hands on delivery in safety critical manufacturing environments, before moving into consulting at PwC, supporting organisations across the UK to improve performance, capability and engagement at scale. His approach is grounded in a simple belief: sustainable results come from engaged people, strong leadership and well designed operations. He works best where strategy meets reality, observing work first hand and helping leaders build trust within their teams to do the right thing for each other, for the business and for their customers.
Mark Couttie
Director
In a distinguished career as a Senior Partner in engineering and manufacturing consultancy, most recently at PwC, Mark led more than 200 projects in fifteen countries. He is committed to building high performing teams, driving strategic transformation, and delivering work that makes a measurable difference. Mark’s career has focussed on creating environments where people can do their best work, and where bold ideas translate into meaningful outcomes. He’s passionate about shaping clear strategic direction, simplifying complexity, and empowering teams to move with confidence and purpose. His strongly held belief is that sustainable success always comes from investing in people first.

Our Gang
Our coaches are unlike any others. They’re 300 strong and have all held senior positions in a wide range of industries. They’ve faced the same problems as you have and solved them many times. With the confidence that comes from experience, they’re not driven by what works in theory, only what works in practice. So they get their hands dirty, working alongside your people on real jobs to effect real improvements, unique to your business. These improvements will continue long after they’ve gone because our gang don’t tell you what to do, they’ll show you how to do it.
